No,
You cannot build servers from images of different architecture.

Images can be used for the same architecture machines.

Thanks

Hi, Mani.

even i too had same impression before. from one of my rp2450 i couldn't clone the 11i on rp5470. but after applying HWEnable sept 2002 patches to rp2450 i could clone.

Re: drp rp7410 image restore a500

Hi,
When installing from an Ignite server there is an option "Clone this image to another hardware" (or something like this, I dont remember exact). I have not tested this myself but perhaps you should read about this in the Ignite manuals.

Re: drp rp7410 image restore a500

yes,
there seems to be some new version's of ignite which provide some enhanced features
Tried downloading the latest
B 4.1.6.1

// Using a recovery tape to clone systems will only work if the two
systems are capable of running the same software configuration. This
means that the source system must contain a version of HP-UX with all
necessary patches and driver software required by the clone system.

If the two systems are different hardware models, a new kernel will
automatically be built to suit the new hardware. If the two systems
are the same model, the clone will by default use the kernel from the
original system. You may force a kernel to be built by using the
"Additional" screen in the Advanced user interface to set the "Cloning
to different HW?" selector to TRUE.//

Seems it should be possible.Never tried this!!!

Re: drp rp7410 image restore a500

even though it is not adviced to clone A500 using RP7410 image, but it works .. Only pre-requisite is you need to install all the HW enablement patches for A500 on RP7410 and then do the cloning.
