DTC 19tn not returning login prompt
HP-UX 10.20 (K580)
Setting up a DTC19tn using DTC manager version A.14.4C.020. It configures ok with dtcconfig and the DTC boots up with a number 1 and a flashing dot in the status window. I can modify the DTC using dtcconfig (modify option) and set the terminal properties. However, I cannot ping the IP address of the DTC and the terminal does not give a login prompt.
I verified all the settings on another 10.2 server along with the DTC to make certain it's working ok. Terminal settings match for correct handshaking too. I even got it working on the other server, exported the DTC (dtcexport) and imported/dtcown it on the new server- nothing.
I think I'm missing something on the 10.20 server- perhaps a telnetd or dtc patch? Seems to me that if the DTC boots, I should at least be able to ping it's IP (same network as the server). dtcping does not find the DTC either, but dtcconfig let's me modify it (it wouldn't let me modify the DTC if it couldn't connect to it).
Another note: The working server (that the dTC does work on) does not have an entry for terminals in the /etc/ddfa/dp file and the terminal still works ok. All I see are printer entries. It's my understanding that we need an entry there for terminals too- right or wrong?

Re: DTC 19tn not returning login prompt
"dtcconfig" uses low level network communication (not TCP/IP). It is sounds like one of the IP addresses isn't configured right.
Check the LAN address and DNS/IP parameters.
