DTC - setting TCP/IP

I must use DTC16 over TCP/IP alone. Seems it will work?
How to set the IP address? Can I configure it in LAN from server and then take it away? Or should I do it from diagnostic console? If so, where to find the schme of cable number 8120-6196?

Re: DTC - setting TCP/IP

DTC's must sit on a segment of the net where their MAC addresses can be seen by the HP3000. This means that they must sit on the same segment of the net as the HP3000 (of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address the first three octets must be the same) or the routers, switches, etc. must be bridged so the HP3000 can see the DTC's MAC address.

MAC address is the Machine Address Code.

Would anybody else like to add anything?

Re: DTC - setting TCP/IP

Seems I have a problem then. I have HP9000 and HP-UX, I assume it doesn't matter.
Do You know maybe if there is DTC management for linux?

Re: DTC - setting TCP/IP

Maciej,
Is it the DTC16RX you will be using ?
If not this will not help you, and Paul is correct. However the 16RX will allow you to have the config of the DTCs downloaded over TFTP from a 9000 server. The DTC it self is configured via the diag port to download the spec whenever nessecary.
In NMMGR set the MAC address to 00-00-00-00-00-00 and just define the IP you need. I have 3 DTCs (in 3 different countries) connected to a 3000 this was.
Conatct me if I can help you further.

What is the comm configuration of the diag port? I'm trying to get to it with a PC using HyperTerm under Win2k.

Re: DTC - setting TCP/IP

Hello,

Cable 8120-6196 looks like this:

DTC SIDE RJ45.............DB25 (DTE DEVICE)
.........-------.........--------
RD- INPUT.. 1 <---------- 2
TD- OUTPUT 3 ----------> 3
SGND........ 6 ----------- 7
RTS- OUTPUT 5 ----------> 8
CTS- INPUT.. 4 <---------- 22
A problem well defined is half solved.

Re: DTC - setting TCP/IP

What does the serial configuration look like? 9600 8-N-1?
