Dual boot Recovery on HPUX
I am looking for more info on Ignite UX.
I want a list servers which have native tape boot(with firmware version)for recovery, otherwise we should go for two step recovery. For DVD boot tape recovery as per hp, we must have same the same ignite verion in DVD.
Here I have Ignite version C.7.6.100 installed on my server, and I have OS DVD which has C7.6.98 Ignite version. If the server requires two step recovery, am i able to recover with above dvd?.
same like, If my ignite server version is higher/different than client version, Still I can take archive to my server. What about recovery, will it be successful without any errors?
Thank You In @Dvance.

Re: Dual boot Recovery on HPUX
There are few itanium boxes does not have tape boot ability which needs two step recovery. Here ignite version should be same.
But the latest firmware and new itanuim boxes has the boot ability. Here it is not required.
For net recovery also this is not required.

Re: Dual boot Recovery on HPUX
Ganesan's advice is sound. Only the oldest Itanium machines lack direct tape boot support.
Also note that Ignite only supports direct tape boot for SCSI tape devices. Fibre or USB tapes are 2-step.
I think a 2-step boot using C.7.6.100 and C7.6.98 would work. These are very close.

Re: Dual boot Recovery on HPUX
Is network recovery requires the same ignite vesion in both client and Server or both should be PA-RISC or IA?
