Dump device on SAN Disk

Hi All
we wants to configure a dump device to a SAN disk, my question is:

My HP-UX 11iv1 server boots from local disks, will it support dump device on SAN.( means that when the crash happen, the savecore process starts on RC1 and FC starts on RC2).

will the savecore process able to save the memory dump on to the SAN dump disk?

Regards

Re: Dump device on SAN Disk

I do not know the exact answer to your question but here are my first few thoughts.

1) why waste expensive SAN disk for this ?

2) doubt the FC driver is available during the initial phases of the core dump

3) what about sharing dump with swap ?

Cheers.

@SUDHAKARA H.R.

this thread is about OpenVMS - do you really think it is related?

Shan,
do you talk about saving the dump into the default directory

/var/adm/crash ?

Of course this can be on a SAN device - why not?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Dump device on SAN Disk

I remember that Secure Path won't work for dump to SAN disk.
