duplicating hp-ux 10.20
i have duplicated my hp-ux 10.20 in DDS tape using the dd command. the duplicated tape works well when installing using the default 2-user license. The included 8-user option will not work. the dd command doesn't seem to be able to copy the 8-user license included in the original copy. Is there a way to copy the 8-user license to another tape of better just install the free unlimited user license

Re: duplicating hp-ux 10.20
You can install free unlimited user license.
The ignite make-tape recovery method would have been the best method to duplicate the server.
Ulimited license can be downloaded from here

-USA..

Re: duplicating hp-ux 10.20
I'm not sure what you're really trying to accomplish with this dd process, but you should really look into Ignite-UX. It can be used to make a bootable image of your system that you can then use to restore from in case of disaster.
Thought it will do more, you should probably stick to just using it against your root volume group (vg00) and rely on conventional backup methods like fbackup for the rest of your data.
Here's the link for the Ignite product:

Re: duplicating hp-ux 10.20
Replicate the server using Ignite.
HP converted all user licenses to unlimited several years ago. You don't need to do anything to the server to activated it, because there isn't anything in the OS checking that stuff.
You only need to take action if the OS is giving you a specific message with regards to licensing.
