Dutch Perl Workshop
There will be another Dutch Perl Workshop in 2014!
The Perl workshop is a day of presentations for users of the programming language Perl of all levels. There will be some of the developers who continue to extend the language itself as well as the many modules written in it and there will be professional users of Perl from many organisations. But also newcomers are warmly welcomed.
During the presentations and informal conversations, you will be kept up-to-date about the latest additions to the language itself and the available modules. And most likely, as you go along, you'll come across solutions to some of your day-to-day programming issues.
Since the middle of last year there is an additional Perl mongers group in the Netherlands, AmsterdamX.pm, targeting the numerous expats working as Perl developers in this country. Thanks to our close community relations with them, we can count on more international interest this year. Some of the people we can look forward to are Ribasushi, providing insight into DBIx::Class and the current developments around the hackathon, Leon Timmermans who is expert in tools for creating Perl distributions, the so-called Toolchain. SawyerX is going to tell us more about the modern web framework Dancer2 and how easy it has become to build a Perl-based website. No web server, but working from the command line and passing options? Getopt::Long by Johan Vromans has helped us doing that since the early years of Perl. But Perl keeps evolving and of course you'll hear the latest news on Perl 6 from Liz. And you'll hear more about the basic techniques such as DBI from Tux and XML from Mark Overmeer.
