Editor for Single User Mode

I need to edit a configuration file when booted into single user mode. VI is not available. What editor works in single user mode and how do I invoke it?

Thanks.

Re: Editor for Single User Mode

When in single-user mode there are 3 things you need to do to get 'vi' to work:

1) mount /usr

2) mount /var

3) set your terminal.

Once you do those 'vi' should work fine.
