I have a test unix box having 11.23.For a test purpose I deleted the contentents of EFI directory.: from os --
efi_fsinit -d /dev/rdsk/cxtydzs1
After that I executed reconnect -r ,configured back to the default configuration.But still not abe to boot to operating system.Could you pls suggest?
Is it possible to boot the operating system?

SolutionThere's no way you can boot off this disk - it has no HPUX boot loader on it. If the disk is mirrored you could always boot off the mirror and then use efi_cp and efi_mkdir to recreate the contents off the other disk... also if you boot off DVD, there may be a recovery option that includes re-creating the EFI partition - I haven't looked at the recovery options for so long though I couldn't be sure...

After the "efi_fsinit" command you need to "fill" the EFI area with "mkboot", otherwise it is still empty (no boot loader).
Without a working mirror disk you can only try to boot from install DVD and recover using the recovery shell.

You can't boot your server with out the EFI partation to recover you have this options.
1. ignite tape
2. boot from DVD and go to recover option.
