EMS [24676]: ----- EMS Monitor Restart ----- Title: dm
OUR SERVER IS DOWN AFTER HP APPLIED SOME DIAGNOSTIC PATCHES !!!!!> SEE STORY BELOW.
we were getting the above error message for a long time.
I had contacted HP and they put in a board, applied december patches. Error didn't go away.
HP also ran the "check" script three times ( on different days) . these were sent for analysis to HP.
Eventually they decided hat they have to put in some diagnostic patches. They did, and now the server would not start at all !!!!!!!
There is no response fronm GSP as well. what could have gone wrong ???
Thanks for any input
regards,
Nalin.

Re: EMS [24676]: ----- EMS Monitor Restart ----- Title: dm
The Machine doesn't boot up. Well there is power. That's it. I can shut it down with the power switch becuase I cannot communicate to the machine thru the Web console.
However, since the last message I have managed to get a response from the GSP. I have the GSP prompt.
Where do I go from here ?
regards,
Nalin.

A HP Engineer is on site with me.
He is looking at the problem. He doesn't look like Pharoah to me !!!!.
I will suggest your solution to him. And post the results.
Thanks again,
Nalin.

And GSP prompt appeared. That's it. Nothing more. No more messages.
Does that say something ??

GSP> SL
You'll be prompt to select a few different types of log ... enter "e" for error. then enter "n" when asked if you want to setup filter option. Write down the outut and pass it to HP to determine if there's any error.
Also while you're at it find out what is the firware rev level..
GSP> HE
The first couple of lines will tell you. Find out from HP if this is the latest firmware, if not insist that you want the latest firmware to be loaded.

Re: EMS [24676]: ----- EMS Monitor Restart ----- Title: dm
HP are changing the GSP board. If that doesn't help, they will change the main board and the processor !!!!!.
now how can a machine that was functioning perfectly develop al this problems at boot up ? this is a question for action going forward from where I am . How can I detect if some deamon is lurking to attack me inside the box ?

Nalin

It was the Main system Board !!!.
But all systems are running. how on earth can I predict such a thing in the future ?
Any ideas from ye Gurus ?
Thanks for joining in the fun. That alone keeps one going .
Thanks and regards,
Nalin.
