EMS Event Notification MAJORWARNING (3)
"/storage/events/ta
pes/SCSI_tape/10_4_4.6.0" (Threshold: >= " 3") Execute the following command to obtain event details:
/opt/resmon/bin/resdata -R 105775106 - r
/storage/events/tapes/SCSI_tape/10_4_4.6.0 -n 105775106 -a
I have gotten this error with the message to run the above to get a detailed description and
lists that the changer mechanism has a hardware fault.
It continues to say if the problem persists to contact the hardware supplier helpline.
The other strange fact is in the description it abends at 0X0140 and I onlt have tapes in slots 1 through 9. this appears to be at slot 14 or 15.
This message has come up in syslog.log 8 times in the past 2 weeks, yet the backups are running fine.
Is this a quark or should I have some concern?
Thanks,
Gordon

Re: EMS Event Notification MAJORWARNING (3)
Hi Gordon,
If your h/w is under a maintenance contract then place a service call. It won't cost you anything and at the very least the vendor can correctly identify the issue. EMS should mail more detailed information to root, so check there as well.
Could you attach some of the output from the EMS errors to this post, so we can get a better idea of what is being reported.
Regards,
Dave
