EMS message translation needed
Notification Time: Fri Jun 29 08:16:14 2001
jabs-hpl.jabs sent Event Monitor notification information:
/storage/status/disks/default/0_0_1_0.3.0 is != 0.
Its current value is unknown.
There is no other information, or a resdata command to run. The file system on that disk is up and running file.

Re: EMS message translation needed
David,
I've seen this one my disks before and the answer I got from HP Support is that this is due to a "spin down" timeout on this particular disk and is not a problem. The way it was explained to me is that the EMS s/w polls all of your disks and that all of your disks are either spinning up (about to be read or written to) spinning (in use) or spinning down (hasn't been used in a while so it's spinning down). If the EMS polls a disk that is in spin-down mode, then the timeout that EMS has set for the disk to respond is not met because the disk has to complete it's spin-down, then spin-up again before it can respond.
According to them this is a known problem.
If the disk is in spin-up or spinning, it responds in a timely manner to the poll and all is well, this only occurs on those rare occasions where the poll hits the disk during a spin-down.
Hope this helps.
