this morning in our OpenView Op Console the following message arrived:"
EMSNotification /storage/events/disks/default/0_1_1_0.0.0 166789140 "CRITICAL(5)" >= "3" 0 1 Problem 166789121
"
How should I understand this message? Is there a disk problem?
Any help much appreciated.
Kris

Re: EMS Message
Problem is, telnet does not seem to work anymore. I telnet the system and I get:
"
Trying...
Connected to xxxx.
Escape character is '^]'.
"
that's it. No login screen text, no prompt.

Re: EMS Message
Is root disk is mirrored?
What HP-UX OS version ?
Login to GSP or MP by pressing ctrl+B, enter the command IF it's GSP>co if it's MP>cm &
MP:CM>co to get into the console
If you are not able to get into console might be a problem with your disk
Try to reset the system explain us where exactly boot process is hanging

Re: EMS Message
i think it looks bad for the disk as it is CRITICAL (not even a WARNING).
r u able to access that server via console since u r unable to telnet? from there, run "dmesg" command and reply output, also, if possible, reply /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log.
regards.

Re: EMS Message
if you are not able to telnet to system
so go for KVK's solution..
On the other hand,if it is possible
go to your and check any Amber lights exist
or not
if you are able to telnet your system
/var/adm/syslog or dmesg can be evidence what
is wrong with your system
Good Luck,

Re: EMS Message
If you ca access your system thorugh MP/GSP loging or console login then look at /var/opt/resmon/log/event.log for detailed information about this message.
