EMS panic on MC Service guard Status
Hi,
EMS is setup for MC Service Guard cluster, package and services. The following e-mail send to me.
Notification Time: Wed Sep 19 14:00:22 2001
ijmsia02 sent Event Monitor notification information:
/cluster/package/service_status/tarzan/tarzan_serv
will meet notification criteria when it is = 3.
Its current value is UNKNOWN(2).
User Comments:
Tarzan service is DOWN on IJMSIA02
When I check the syslog file, I am getting the following error message.
Sep 19 12:48:17 ijmsia01 pkgmond[2230]: SNMPGet of /cluster/package/package_status/tarzan failed: Invalid Target Object Used
Sep 19 12:53:16 ijmsia01 pkgmond[2230]: SNMPGetof /cluster/package/package_status/tarzan failed: Invalid Target Object Used
Sep 19 12:53:26 ijmsia01 svcmond[2084]: NMPGet of /cluster/package/service_status/tarzan/tarzan_serv failed: Invalid Target Object Used
What could be the problem?
Thanks
Senthil

Re: EMS panic on MC Service guard Status
Document SUMB7609-90006K
( "Event Monitoring Service Version A.03.10 Release Notes " ) reports this issue:
The following are known problems and suggested workarounds with the EMS:
JAGab77628: &product-sg; package package_status is not being reported on nodes in a failed state.
What is the problem?
An EMS "error" event occurs when monitoring the resource instance /cluster/package/package_status/. cmviewcl shows the local node STATE to be failed. The api.log contains:
-------------------Start Event--------------------
User event occurred at
Process ID: nnnn (/etc/opt/resmon/lbin/pkgmond) Log Level: Error
SNMPGet of /cluster/package/package_status/pkg1 fails: Invalid Target
Object Used
-------------------End Event----------------------
What is the workaround?
If you get an error event, run the cmviewcl command to check the status of packages. If ITO is installed, configure an EMS trap template to intercept the error event, and then launch the cmviewcl command as an automatic action.
