EMS Registrar don't work

Hi, I would activate EMS HA monitoring on my RP5430 with HP-UX 11.00. I've installed
EMS-Config.EMS-GUI
EMS-Core.EMS-CORE
EMS-Core.EMS-MX
EMS-MIBMonitor.MIBMON-RUN
The p_client process run but the registrar don't.
I've a message in the client.log which is:
-------------------Start Event--------------------
Event 11 occurred at Tue Feb 3 20:49:10.604138 2004
Process ID: 15422 (/etc/opt/resmon/lbin/p_client) Log Level: Error
rm_client_connect: Failed to connect to ipahv004,
IP address 10.1.10.182, Port 1712: Invalid argument
-------------------End Event----------------------

-------------------Start Event--------------------
Event 2505 occurred at Tue Feb 3 20:49:10.606685 2004
Process ID: 15422 (/etc/opt/resmon/lbin/p_client) Log Level: Error
update_monitors: socket open failed
-------------------End Event----------------------
I control /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf. This files are correctly configurated.
What cai i do?
Best Regards
Stefano

Re: EMS Registrar don't work

Hi, the output of "netstat -an | grep 1712" command is without entries.

The same for the "netstat -a | grep registar" command.

Also I have executed the inetd -c command for read the configuration.

Thanks

Re: EMS Registrar don't work

Stefano,

Just checking for completeness...

Do you have something like this in /etc/services?

# grep regis /etc/services
registrar 1712/tcp # resource monitoring service
registrar 1712/udp # resource monitoring service

And some thing like this in /etc/inetd.conf?

# grep regis /etc/inetd.conf
registrar stream tcp nowait root /etc/opt/resmon/lbin/registrar /etc/opt/resmon/
lbin/registrar
Unix, the other white meat.

Re: EMS Registrar don't work

Hi Todd, I've controlled "/etc/services" and "/etc/inetd.conf" files and they are correctly configured, like you say.

Thanks

Re: EMS Registrar don't work

Stefano, it sounds like something goes wrong during EMS installation. I would suggest you to reinstall the product.

Re: EMS Registrar don't work

Get a copy of the OnlineDiag Software Depot (SD), which is the delivery vehicle for the Support Tools. This depot contains:
Support Tools Manager (STM), the online diagnostics
EMS Hardware Monitors
Some of the offline diagnostics (to use all the offline diagnostics, you must use the Support Plus Media).
Predict Support (optional)
You can obtain the OnlineDiag depot in two different ways:

The Support Plus Media (CD-ROM) for your operating system.
Via the website "HP Software Depot". Download the appropriate version of the Support Tools depot, for example: HP-UX 11.0, HP-UX 10.20 (S800), or HP-UX 10.20 (S700). See "Downloading Support Tools Over the Web"
