Re: enable ssh on blades

Install it and configure it.

If you have 11.31, it should be installed by default.

If not, get it and documentation here:

Re: enable ssh on blades

Hello,

It's very stange, for me it's full part of HPUX since at least hpux 11.23(even 11.11 but not sure lol).
I've installed both 11.23 and 11.31 on bl860c and I never need to add it, I think you've miss it in the selection of packages in the installation menu.

Hope this helps.

Re: enable ssh on blades

when I do ssh from my secure shell client I receive the message

The host x.x.x.x is not reacheble.
The host may be down or may be a problem.....

But I am able to do that via telnet...

So what should I do

Re: enable ssh on blades

OK, so go to the link I gave you, download the software and install it.

SSH documentation, including installation instructions is available here:

Re: enable ssh on blades

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the link.... Now I need to install this on 10 servers.... Is there a simpler way that I can do.. Was just anxious to learn that as well... and try it out

An issue apart from this.... From Tuesday onwardes I will have to maintain IBM servers... So I was thinking if it is ok to post the issues here.... plz advise

Questions about IBM get deleted.
Unless you magically figured out how to install HP-UX on them. :-)

Hi:

What's so hard about running 'swinstall'?:

http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayInstallInfo.do?productNumber=T1471AA

Once you download the depot, copy it to the servers necessary and follow the simple installation instructions. No reboot is necessary.

Re: enable ssh on blades

Hi,

If you want to install the SSH bundle on 10 servers, keep the depot in one server, register the depot and install on other clients using this network depot.
Best wishes,

Ganesh.

Change the value of PS1 variable in .profile file in the home directory og the user.

PS1="# "

Re: enable ssh on blades

Hi,

After login as root do the following

# vi /.profile (assuming root home dir is /)

look the following line

PS1="$LOGNAME @ `hostname`"

Change this line to

PS1="#"
Best wishes,

Ganesh.
