Hi,

How can I modify a file English Text. If I use vi, its converts to ascii file.

Not sure what you mean by "English Text", but if it is a unicode file, then vi edits it as is. unicode is a 16-bit character representation, whereas ascii is 8-bit. vi is designed for "ascii" editting. Their is no conversion going on.
