After configured it, at first boot, the flash ROM has been updated (it asks me if i want to). The Entria reboots itself but now i have a black screen.
i suppose the firmware has been updated with a too recent soft.
Is there any way to reset or downgrade this ROM?
i have now at boot :
- a black screen
- no keyboard
- no lan (the led lights always)
- no mouse
- no floppy
is my Entria broken?
is there a reset button on the motherboard to reset the flash ROM?
Thanks,
Cyril.

Re: Entria II netstation: can't boot after flash ROM update
If yes it could be a case of the monitor is not syncing .... and you can't access the config screen
fyi : if you here the beeps ->
switch off/on
at 3rd beep Hold down left [Alt] key
using numeric keypad type numbers from monitors model number eg [Alt] 2 7 4 5 for a C2745A
Release [Alt] key.
for complete list of ALT sequences to set your monitor type view the /opt/hpxt/enware2/lib/monitorfile file

Re: Entria II netstation: can't boot after flash ROM update
Thanks for your answer.
unfortunately, my entria beeps twice at boot.
it seems a have no keyboard ; i tried with a new one: still the same
the screen powers on but keeps black
i try what you say me :
after my 2 beeps, have insert the ALT-130 sequence key because i have an HP C5211A screen
still black
the lan led always lights: is there a network pb ? But why the keyboard and screen are KO?
P.S.
all peripherics work because before the update flash, i have configured it ON IT.

Re: Entria II netstation: can't boot after flash ROM update
yes only 2 beeps:
beep beep 3 seconds wait honk (the screen lights on)
Alt +/- or shitf-F9 don't change anything.
> are you able to from another Xserver run
yes, i have another Xtermnial but as previously said, no lan is availble for the Entria: can't ping it!
Alex,
on boot, the capslock led lights on, but after, none of the 3 leds (caps, scroll, num) lights on even when i press the right keys.

Re: Entria II netstation: can't boot after flash ROM update
The monitor ... is it HP ?
Is it the same as on the other xterminal ?
remsh
What version of enware were you previously running and what should now be installed ? ie was it an upgrade or a patch that invoked the flashupdate.
Lastly can you start xdm and attempt to either re-configure the xterminal or check that TFTP access is enabled and working via the self tests in xtadm ...

Re: Entria II netstation: can't boot after flash ROM update
yes: an HP C5211A.
> Is it the same as on the other xterminal ?
no: the other X-terminal is an Envizex II that works fine.
> remsh
% remsh tr08b get config | grep -i monitor
Display (1) Monitor = "SAM 16601 1280x1024@75Hz"
User Monitor = 0x0
---> that's for the working termnial
What version of enware were you previously running and what should now be installed ? ie was it an upgrade or a patch that invoked the flashupdate.
enware B.09.12
i don't know the previously version of the enware for the Entria (the one which can't boot) because it makes a long long time it wasn't connected.
When i first boot it, everything was all right for the boot phase but it was waiting for a valid tftp server.
I set correctly the setup config then press the start button. It contacts my sever, asks me if i want to update the flash ROM (i answer yes) and reboots itself.
After, the boot can't be successful.

Here the results of the xtadm from my server:
It appears that some version of Netstation Software for ENVIZEX II and
ENTRIA II netstations is installed on this system. This test will:
Check that some files which are important to the operation
of an ENVIZEX II netstation are present on this system.
Proceed with the install test [y|n] (y):
/opt/hpxt/enware2/xthome/lib/rgb.txt is present.
/opt/hpxt/enware2/xthome/lib/what is present.
/opt/hpxt/enware2/xthome/bin/archive/C/Xserver is present.
This test will:
Emulate a netstation downloading a file from this computer
using TFTP.
Proceed with the tftp test [y|n] (y):
Operating System is hp10.
tftpd executable is present.
tftp service present in /etc/services.
inetd executable is present.
inetd daemon is currently running.
ping of HERODE successful
It appears that some version of HP Netstation Software for ENVIZEX II and
ENTRIA II netstations is installed on this system. This test will check that
these files are accessible using TFTP.
tftp: Attempting to get a file from HERODE.
tftp: Sucessfully read the file /opt/hpxt/enware2/xthome/lib/rgb.txt from HERODE.
All checks of tftp completed successfully.

P.S.
tr08b is the X-termnial that works.
i can't test the other one because it can't boot.
i found this:
The Netstation did not boot successfully. Normally, the Netstation beeps three
times and then the boot screen appears. The first beep indicates that the
Netstation is listening for keyboard input to control the boot source. The
second beep indicates that the Netstation has stopped listening to the
keyboard and continues with the boot from the default boot source (usually
the built-in flash ROM).

Re: Entria II netstation: can't boot after flash ROM update
i confirm u the boot sequence:
- The first beep indicates that the Netstation is listening for keyboard input to control the boot source.
- The second beep indicates that the Netstation has stopped listening to the keyboard and continues with the boot from the default boot source (usually the built-in flash ROM).
- the third beep that the remote config file has been reached
For my Entria, the problem was due to a wrong RAM.
Changing it for a new one works fine. Now i have the standard blue screen for the HP config menu.
Entria II:
168-pin DIMMs (PC66/100/133 DIMMs in different sizes can be used, but only 8MB of each module will be available; the larger modules (16 and 32MB) are HP-proprietary and hard to get).
is it right?
so i add standard DIMM 32Mb. At boot, with the old one, the Entria reconize only 4Mb. The RAM is an Infineon 4Mx64 SDAM PC100 32Mb.
What kind of DIMM must we use to upgrade the Entria?
Where can i find HP-proprietary DIMM > 8Mb?
Cyril.

Solutionfyi HP Part numbers = 16 mb memory module (DIMM) C5219A
32 mb memory module (DIMM) C5220A ...you need a minimum of 16 mb to support both console and graphics modes.
