Envizex II and standard LAN Card

Is it possible to attach a standard 100 MBit LAN Card to the EnvizeX's PCI Slot? If it's possible, how can I get it working?

Re: Envizex II and standard LAN Card

I don't think so. And while we are on this topic I'd like to bash HP for lying and cheating it's customers on these products. We at one point had over 5000 Envizex's and were purchased because we were told that they would eventually be able to run java and a browser. Well HP, thanks for catching us while we had our hands grasping our ankles!

Unfortunately for HP, we have standardized on IBM PC's on the desktop, with an aggressive schedule to replace all HP desktop PC's and Envizex's (over 6000 units) by June 2003!!!!!!!

Re: Envizex II and standard LAN Card

C5209A = Envizex II 100BaseT PCI card & is suitable for Envizex II's.

However you'd be wanting to use it in conjunction with the latest version of Enware2 9.11 or 9.12 and the latest xterminal patches.

I suggest you detail a) what errors you are getting either to the screen or xterminals diagnostic log file.

b) your version of enware, steps you have taken and the details of your network ... I'd be interested to know if routers and inparticular switches/hubs are involved and if so their spanning tree options ?

As to your earlier product numbers : C5204A seems OK, as to where to get them/ further support ....since you are in Germany my advise is to raise a call with the HP Response Centre in Rattigen ... I know they have the s/w & h/w expertise .... I popped over about 2 years ago and met the guys ..... if they can assist I'm sure they will but note these products and the exterminals are no longer sold ....

Re: Envizex II and standard LAN Card

Harry,

What were your problems .... bigest issues I've seen are wrt memory ... ideally you'd be wanting 32MB minimum, other issues I seem to remember revolved around visuals etc ...
