I am trying to add a new FX890 printer that has a built in Lan card to the HPPI software.
However, the HPPI can not ping the printer, but I can ping it from the standard Unix prompt.
Any suggestions on how to add it?
Thanks.

SolutionIf this is true, continue with the hppi setup. hppi will tell you that problems may be encountered later but I believe the real issue is selecting the driver that most closely matches the Epson printer you have. I have had good luck with HP III, 4i, & 5i when dealing with non-HP printers.

Re: Epson FX890 and HPPI
I did go into sam, and configured it as a remote printer and it appears to be working just fine.
Thanks.

Re: Epson FX890 and HPPI
I don't think HPPI will work with this printer unless the network I/F is a JetDirect card.
HPPI uses port 9000 to communicate with JetDirect devices & your I/F probably does not support that.
You'll probably have to set it up as a remote printer - not a network printer.
Rgds,
Jeff

Re: Epson FX890 and HPPI
addqueue -h "ip_address" -q "queue_name"
Make sure port 9000 is open. Also if it addes, check all the status of it with hpnpadmin -v
