eqmemsize
I load HPUX 10.10 on HP-715 and HP-750 servers on numerous occasions. This load usually takes 2.5 to 3 hours. When I start the load I get a message that the reserve memory pool is exhausted and eqmemsize is currently set to 15. How do I increase this parameter and will it speed up the software load process?
On another note, where can I get a copy of HPUX 10.10 on CDROM?
Thanks
Ken Smith

Re: eqmemsize
You can increase the kernel parameter eqmemsize in SAM (or manually by editing the system file and using mkkernel, SAM is easier though if you are unexperienced with building kernels). THis parameter will not speed up your installation, though. It is simply increasing a reserved memory pool used by kernel drivers. If you increase it, don't set it too high. As a rule of thumb: about 400 per GB physical memory.
You should check out the Ignite/UX tool make_recovery. It is probably a good tool to speed up your installation (if you have a portable DDS tape device). You'll find more information if you check out
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90704/B2355-90704.html
Since HPUX 10.10 reached is near its end of support ( see http://www.software.hp.com/HPUX-RDMP/history/slide2.html ), the HP Respone Center will perhaps have some CDROMs left over.
:)

Re: eqmemsize
Hi Ken,
Since you are installing the system fresh, you can't modify the kernel parameters. This is a normal message and is of no harm.
quote.//
Overall application performance may be improved by increasing the "eqmemsize" tunable parameter ( currently set to "15")
What do I do?
Solution
There is nothing that you need to do in response to this message.
This message is normal on systems with smaller amounts of RAM memory. It concerns the way the ram-filesystem is loaded into memory. It is safe to ignore as it is only a complaint from the INSTALL kernel. It does not mean that there is anything wrong with the resulting installed system.
Endquote. //
hope this helps.
thanks
