Error in invoking target install of makefile-- oracle 8.1.7
Hi all
I am trying to install oracle 8.1.7 client on L-1000 running 11.0. maxdsiz=256Mb and maxdsiz_64bit= 4Gb. Patches PHCO_24148,PHSS_21947 and PHSS_25249 has been installed, of course aC/aC++ compiler also installed. /tmp is 250 Mb.
Installation goes well, but while linking it throws the error like:
Error in invoking target install of makefile
1)/usr/oracle/base/product/8.1.7/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlplus.mk
2)/usr/oracle/base/product/8.1.7/network/lib/ins_net_client
3)/usr/oracle/base/product/8.1.7/network/lib/ins_nau
4)/usr/orcale/base/product/8.1.7/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms
[totally 4 errors]
After ignoring these errors and successful completion of testing, when i execute
$sqlplus sys/xxxx@yyy
it throws the error:
/usr/lib/dld.sl: can't open shared library: /opt/java/jre.1.1.8/lib/PA_RISC/native_threads/libjava.sl
/usr/lib/dld.sl: No such file or directory
Abort(coredump)
Does anybody faced this problem and rectified pls respond
TIA
ravi

Re: Error in invoking target install of makefile-- oracle 8.1.7
Hi Ravi,
I have seen this in Oracle 8.1.6. The solutions are:
1) set 'ulimit' to unlimited for the oracle user
2) Increase maxdsize up to 256MB ( you did it already )
HTH,
Shiju

Re: Error in invoking target install of makefile-- oracle 8.1.7
Hi Ravi,
We had a similar problem last week when we were installaing oracle 8i 64 bit on one of our servers. We were suggested to bump up the maxdsize to 350MB. For some other reason we were required to revert to 32 bit, so we never got a chance to check this out. You can give it a try and it would be good if you post the results for us to verify.
Hope this helps.

Re: Error in invoking target install of makefile-- oracle 8.1.7
You've probably already checked this out, but....
I seems like I had a similar problem when I installed 8.1.7. I checked the logs and found that the java library wasn't built and/or present.
Good Luck
