Error making Ignite backup

I recently changed some kernel parameters and decided to make a new recovery backup with Ignite. When it got to the section where it backs-up the volume group info I got the following error:

make_recovery(486):Warning:vg01 is not activated.

What does this mean? That volume group is certainly active (my Oracle software is installed there) as my databases are running okay. Will this cause me to have an incomplete backup? Will it prevent me from using this tape to recover the system?

Re: Error making Ignite backup

Don,

While I don't like the fact that you're getting this error, I don't think it necessarily compromises your backup. That depends, though, on whether you ignite backup is just of the root VG or tries to include vg01 as well. If you're only backing up vg00, which is the generally accepted use of ignite, then I would think you should be able to restore with it just fine.

Re: Error making Ignite backup

Don,

One other thought: you mention specifically the make_recovery command. That implies that you're using an older version of ignite as the command name has changed in recent version to make_tape_recovery. I would suggest downloading and installing the latest version from here:
