Error messages

Hi
I'm fairly new to HP-UX and would like to know where I could obtain info on error messages on the web. I have the following error on a 11.0 server :

telnetd [20973] username
Error chicking child termination
status : erro 4 : Interrupted systemcall

I think you've found a reasonable site .... the ITRC has a search facility (top left under the HP logo)

However your error is most likely related to kernal parameters : check on the following or increase them ? :

npty nstrpty nflocks nfile nproc probably easiest via sam

nb you'd need to make more dev files (use insf) if you increase either npty or nstrpty .

I'd also advise it would be a good idea to install the latest realted patches : STREAMS PTY ,ARPA Transport, telnet patches etc etc....

Hi,

If the error is related to kernel parms then there should probably be an error message in the /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file as well.
Might give a clue what parm you should change in the kernel.
