Time ago I received another similar error and my disk was damaged, so changed it 1 month ago, but 2 weeks after using the new disk I am receiving this horrible error.

Is there any Idea? (These errors are stored in syslog.log file)

Re: Error Messages

check the device status from ioscan , vgdisplay commands for c0t5d0.

also see if you find any disk failed. You can check them from cstm.

Re: Error Messages

ioscan -fnC disk shows properly the information. my c0t5d0 is my OS disk.

disk 0 8/4.5.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST39173W
/dev/dsk/c0t5d0 /dev/rdsk/c0t5d0

vgdisplay shows:

VG Name /dev/vg0
VG Write Access read/wri
VG Status availabl
Max LV 255
Cur LV 8
Open LV 8
Max PV 16
Cur PV 1
Act PV 1
Max PE per PV 2500

PE Size (Mbytes) 4
Total PE 2169
Alloc PE 1014
Free PE 1155
Total PVG 0
Total Spare PVs 0
Total Spare PVs in use 0

I amd worried because yesterdy morning my unix box frost by itself and I had to restart it three times for it to start.

Re: Error Messages

Hi,

You say your system crashed yesterday? What is in your /var/adm/shutdownlog file? If it is an HPMC you should place a hardware call with your local HP Response Centre and probably get the disk replaced.

You also mentioned you replaced your mirrored boot disk a while ago. Yesterday you had problems booting? After you replaced the disk a while ago, did you enter commands mkboot -b on your disks? Is so, try lifls -l /dev/rdsk/c0t5d0

Re: Error Messages

I think my shutdownlog filesdoes not say too much:

13:13 Tue Sep 5, 2006. Halt: (by vwschem!root)
09:23 Fri Sep 15, 2006. Halt: (by vwschem!root)
09:27 Mon Sep 25, 2006. Halt: (by vwschem!root)
the command lifls -l shows

# lifls -
l /dev/rdsk/c0t5d0
volume ISL10 data size 7984 directory size 8 99/10/28 15:23:53
filename type start size implement created

ISL -12800 584 240 0 99/10/28 15:23:53
AUTO -12289 824 1 0 99/10/28 15:23:53
HPUX -12928 832 800 0 99/10/28 15:23:53

LABEL BIN 3336 8 0 06/08/25 13:59:48

This is my boot disk and I restored the OS form an Ignite tape, So I had not have to do anything else.

Re: Error Messages

Hi,

Can you reply with a vgdisplay -v ? You do not use MirrorDisk/UX ?
