Re: Error recovery from ignite tape

Was the tape cut from the same server you are recovering it to? Or is it the same architecture?

Are you booting from tape or net?

Did you use a recent version of ignite-ux? Was it patched up etc?

Dave.

Re: Error recovery from ignite tape

I think your problem is best described with this portion of the message:

"Possible causes: insufficient memory or swap space, or stack size exceeded maxssiz."
The key work in the message, I think, is MEMORY. You said this is an 817 which is a fairly old and small server. How much RAM do you have installed in this system? I think tthe problem is that the Ignite/UX installation program is running out of memory and generating the above error.
I don't know, nor have I seen, the memory requirements for doing an Ignite/UX install from tape.

Re: Error recovery from ignite tape

Good call. Memory sounds a fair bet.

Re: Error recovery from ignite tape

The memory server is 24 MB, may be this is the cause.
But, How can Install from OS 10.20 from CD whitout problem?

Thanks.

PD: When I have to give the points, at the end or i can in any moment?

Thanks

Re: Error recovery from ignite tape

24MB of RAM??? I'd say that is probably your problem. If you have a 10.20 CD you could try the install, but still not guarantee that it would work. I think 10.20 had a minimum requirement of 64MB RAM?

I'd say you are probably out of luck until you get some more memory for this machine. Any 3rd party reseller of HP products would probably have memory for this box at a reasonable price.

You can assign points at any time. You don't have to wait until your problem is resolved if you don't want too.

Re: Error recovery from ignite tape

Thanks Patrick,
The server is already installed OS 10.20 2 months ago. I didn??t have problem at installation. Then I installed the last ignite version and now I have the error veryfing the recovery tape.

This machine is for file server only.

Re: Error recovery from ignite tape

24MB seems a strange number. Have you got some dead simms? Perhaps the install from the CD was fine with all the memory and now it's died you haven't got enough to install.

Dave.

Re: Error recovery from ignite tape

If you try and install from the CDROM does it crash at the same point?
