error starting licence manager on microfocus server express

Hi all
I have a problem with the license manager on microfocus server express.

MF-LMF:Wed Apr 30 09:04:36 2003: LMF Starting
MF-LMF:Wed Apr 30 09:04:36 2003: Pipe Create Error
MF-LMF:Wed Apr 30 09:04:36 2003: ENOENT(2): No such file or directory
MF-LMF:Wed Apr 30 09:04:36 2003: LMF Closing Down

I only have have 1 licence (1unit), so i am not sure if that is the issue.
Please help!!!!!

Looks like some referred files are missing.

check the files referred by the license manager

Hi,

have you applied license info correctly (i.e serial # and license #). while installing MF cobol choose 32 bit, since 64 bit mode wouldn't work correctly. if the licence info entered is not correct
then cd to mflmf dir, excute ./lmfgetpv k , this will stop license manager.
./mflmadm will ask you for sr # and license # again.
start the license manager again
./mflmman

To ensure license manager running properly ./lmfgetpv

Sounds a bit familiar.
Database corrupted and other LMF errors.

1) You can try to delete and re-create the LMF database. But re your error messages I doubt this will be enough

2) Re-install LMF
cd $COBDIR/lmf
sh ./lmfinstall

then install the licenses with :
sh mflmcmd
in the appropriate directory


Q : do you use other MF product that requires LMF on same box ?

Note : in /var/tmp LMF-common (pipe file) is used by LMF. Check permissions on the file.
we have :
prwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Apr 30 10:01 LMF-common

My database is now currupt. Not sure what I did, but it is now currupt.
I checked the LMF-common file in /var/tmp & it is looks like this:
prwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Apr 29 17:57 LMF-common

I think I'll try to re-install LMF.

So it looks like your LMF was last used yesterday evening.

The LMF can get corrupted without any obvious reasons.

I suggest that once your re-install and get you database right you have a procedure in place for "quick" repair.
(This could be :
a) restore the LMF db from (disk) backup.
note : copy the db files after you run lmfgetpv k
b) delete database and restart license mgr, it will re-create a blank db
c) re-install LMF

I have a problem regarding the software of microfocus server express and since you had a problem with the installation process, I was wondering if you could tell me where is the installation software. Is it on the application CD's or on a different CD?
