Re: Event Monitoring Service Event # 100376

Hello,

I was getting same sort of error for my CD rom.
This has started after loading new quarterly diagnostics tool. After contacting HP, they send the following to me. May be this will work for u. Good luck.

Regards
Joe.

We have the following related to the events generated on your
system.
Disk_em is generating event # 100776

Problem/Symptoms:
As of the March 2001 release, disk_em now processes driver error codes as
part of the polling functionality. When querying a CD/DVD-Rom, it is
perceived to be a fixed-disk rather than a removable medium device.
Therefore when the data comes back to disk_em from these devices, the data
blocks are not as expected by the monitor. Disk_em then generates event #
100776 in response to this, "software configuration error".

Troubleshooting & Solutions:
Edit the /var/stm/config/tools/monitor/default_disk_em.clcfg file and change
the "enabled" flag for event # 100776 to "FALSE".
NOTE: New functionality will be added in IPR 0109 whereby disk_em will
filter out these types of errors by investigating the device firmware and
therefore not expect fixed-disk data blocks back from a removable medium
device.

This suppresses the events reported from the EMS monitor.

I loaded OnlineDiagnostics B.11.00.19.10 (December 2001) and I still have the same problem!
(there is a patch PHSS_25843 for B.11.00.15.08, but apparently not included in the later releases)

Re: Event Monitoring Service Event # 100376

There have been several fixes in this area for the HWE0203 release. See the release notes, where JAGad95500, JAGad94330, JAGad94427, JAGad85036 are listed (under scsi_disk rather than disk_em).

It would depend which devices you were seeing the event from whether HWE0203 does have the fix for your system.
