Re: Eventlogs on HP-UX

Hi,

First /etc/shutdownlog can give you some info (who why)
second /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log.old and /etc/rc.log can give you info on the errors on your system.

Re: Eventlogs on HP-UX

Hello,

There are some files that you can review:

/var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
/var/adm/syslog/OLDsyslog.log
/var/adm/shutdownlog
/var/adm/rbootd.log
/var/adm/crash/
/var/adm/sulog

You can check also access to your system with last and lastb commands.

check for any messages in the system log files located at /var/adm/syslog

Re: Eventlogs on HP-UX

The /etc/shutdownlog should indicate if there has been a problem. Normally where there has been an unscheduled shutdown you will probably find that you have had some sort of kernel panic. Closer inspection of the /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file amy indicate something but not always. Your better off looking in /var/tomsbstones/ts99 file. Part of your next problem will be that 10.01 is not supported and has not been for some time. If yuou have had some sort of panic and you have a 'K' class server, it will most likely be a hardware problem CPU/backplane related.

Re: Eventlogs on HP-UX

hi,
there are three important logs that u can verify.

/var/adm/syslog/OLDsyslog.log
/etc/shutdownlog
/etc/rc.log

Present syslog info is written to /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log, when u reboot the old file will be copied to OLDsyslog.log.
