Exceed shows no servers anymore

Exceed at our client has been working but has not been used for some time. When they started it up, it does not show any of the HP-UX (or any others for that matter) servers anymore, just the grey window. The box which normally shows the servers does not show either - not just an empty box.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

hi,
Have you changed the ip addresses of your servers ?. Are they accessible through ping ?.

Re: Exceed shows no servers anymore

No IP address changes to the Windows 2000 PC or to the servers. This is in a production environment.

Thanks

Re: Exceed shows no servers anymore

Did you turn on the "XDMCP Broadcast" on the Exceed side ? Also double check on the server if the font server is running or not.
# ps -ef|grep xfs
If not start it up ..
# /sbin/init.d/xfs start

Re: Exceed shows no servers anymore

hi,
Are the servers running the x windows services?
are you using VUE or CDE ?
Can you ping to you server's ip from the clients ?.

Re: Exceed shows no servers anymore

Hi Carlo,

somebody having turned off the XDMCP broadcast as the starting configuration is one potential reason, but just a wrong netmask for your PC's network is another one - with the wrong netmask the broadcasts will not be understood by the "dtlogin" daemons (XDMCP daemons).

Re: Exceed shows no servers anymore

We just had a user get windows 2000 and exceed version 7. He got a blank screen at first.
He then went and used the
Start-->programs-->Hummingbird connectivity v7.0-->Exceed-->Client Wizard
That at least got him the screen to login.
I know the user but since I have neither windows 2000 or exceed v7.0 I can not substantiate the results.
No points necessary. The only hat I need is one to cover my balding spot.
