Re: Export DISPLAY problem
2. When you execute the xhost command, what result do you get in return?
3. For ksh, the above should work.. if its csh, your export command should be:
setenv DISPLAY hostname:0.0
For sh, do it in two commands:
DISPLAY=hostname:0.0
export DISPLAY

Re: Export DISPLAY problem
On workstation you shoul do xhost +
and on the server export DISPLAY=
and run the aplication on the server and the
X output will go to workstation.
Ofcource the X server should run on.

Re: Export DISPLAY problem
Please try opening a new terminal window from the toolbar, and do the xhost + from there.

Re: Export DISPLAY problem
Our windows network assigns bogus hostnames to all windows pc's logged onto the network. You can see the DISPLAY variable is set to that if you open a gnome terminal window.
One problem. it X apps wont work until DISPLAY is set to IP_addy:0.0
DISPLAY=192.168.0.40:0.0
export DISPLAY
Don't ask me why, I don't know, I'm just reporting results in hopes it helps you.
