exportfs under 11.11 vs. 10.20

Dear all,

is there any difference in the usage/options/etc. in using exportfs under hpux 10.20 and 11.11.?

I try to export an working diskless OS to an client (from an raid volume which is created under 10.20 and vg imported to my 11.11 ws).
For example the kernel is exported by including it into /etc/exportfs and the exportfs -a.
It does not find the maschine at all as a place where a bootable disk is.
I comparde with another 10.20 system which is providing os for other diskless clients. No differencs. Therefore I am thinking of differences in the exportfs usage??!!??

Should the client detect the /stand/vmunix as bootable media if I export it? Within 10.20 this is the case! The client can not boot but recognizes it. This would be enough as a first step!!

Every help is very welcomed.

Best regards,

Oliver

Oliver,

I would certainly want to see confirmation on this, but I think I recall that diskless support went away after 10.20!

Re: exportfs under 11.11 vs. 10.20

Dear Pete,

that is true and really a pity.
But nevertheless as I can export any other part of my filesystem why not the kernel in the way it is possible from my 10.20, just /stand/vmunix with the specified permissions in /etc/exports? This should work, shouldn't it? At least the controler should see it. Wether it will boot is the next step...

Thanks and maybe you have an idea for testing around?

Best regards,

Oliver

Oliver,

There you've got me - I really don't know. All I can say at this point is:

Good luck,

Pete
