Extended character support via LDAP

Hi people,

We are running Clarify12.5 (Weblogic Server 8.1), which utilizes a web front-end for users to log in.

The authentication details (username and password) is passed on to a Windows LDAP server.

The problem is that when a username or a password contains an extended character e.g. an accented "e" (e-acute), authentication fails.

According to the product owner, this works in their Solaris environment, but I haven't been able to get it working in the HP environment.

I have set my locale (both LANG and LC_ALL) to a number of different settings (e.g. en_US.iso88591, C, en_US.roman8, univ.utf8 etc.), but no luck.

From what I can see, the Clarify APP passes through "en_us" as locale and I'm not sure whether this is correct, but I have no idea where to change it.

Any ideas? All help is appreciated.
