External Boot Disks
Is it possible to boot from an IBM ESS (SHARK)?
Any documentation anywhere?

From the IBM site, it lists by default that there is NOT boot support on HP-UX :

However, another link lists as an "additional supported configuration" the use of it on both the K and N class boxes at 11.00 :
