External Jet Direct used on Epson/Unisys Dot Matrix Printers
Hi all,
I've been summoned to work on getting our dot matrix printers (Epson and Unisys)on our "remote" network. Currently, these printers are attached to the mux of a E series server running 10.20. When I try to add them to the spooler, I cannot find a good driver/interface file to add them. Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Chet

Re: External Jet Direct used on Epson/Unisys Dot Matrix Printers
We use a few Epson DFX-5000+'s and all I did was used JetAdmin to add an external jetdirect using the 'dumb' interface. You can then add whatever options you like to this copy of the 'dumb' interface.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Thanks, I'll look into that and see if it works. I'll let you know.
Thanks,

Re: External Jet Direct used on Epson/Unisys Dot Matrix Printers
Wow...I thought I was the only one old 'nuff to remember the big DFX tanks. Hell I used to work on them. They used to shake ptr desks apart, but they were fairly decent & speedy for non-line printer i.e. a char at a time printers.
They could chug through some forms.....
And yes dumb will work & if you need bold, u-line, etc. ALL Epsons use the std Epson ESC-P codes & *most* Unisys ptrs as well, so it shouldn't be a problem to "enhance" the script if necessary.
Now I wonder if I threw *all* my old Epson manuals away........
Rgds,
Jeff
