Re: Failed To Initialize

Hi,

You boot disk (primary boot path) might possibly be faulty.

Break into OBP when you see "Press any key ..." during the boot process.

1) Try booting from the alternate boot path if the alternate boot path specifies a disk.

> boot alt

2) If that fails, you can perform a search for bootable disks:

> sea

3) You can boot from bootable disks by selecting the numeric representation eg.

> boot P3

boot the 4th bootable device found in the search. Note that for this to work, the bootable device must contain the OS kernel and configured beforehand.

4) If you don't have bootable device configured for booting up properly, then you have to boot-up from your SUPPORT CD. Instructions on recovering your system by booting up the SUPPORT CD and running a recovery shell can be found at this link:

Hope this helps. Regards.

Re: Failed To Initialize

A little update....

I tried:
>sea ipl

got

No devices found....

Since the ipl in on the boot disk, would this seem to indicate a bad disk, or corrupt ipl????

Thanks

Re: Failed To Initialize

Hi,

If I recall correctly, there is a diagnostics option you can perform on your harddisk in I believe the "Service Menu".

Try performing that diagnostic on your boot disk to verify whether it is faulty.

Hope this helps. Regards.

Re: Failed To Initialize

With no devices found during the search, it is likely a fairly serious problem. Start by removing any external devices (tape drives, disks, etc). If that does not allow search to find any bootable disks, the boot disk may be defective, causing the SCSI bus to hang. Or the main processor board has a defect.

Re: Failed To Initialize

Hola,

I have seen this problem before, in my case it was after cleaning the inside of a machine and then replacing the hard drives back, they were not connected properly.

Check all connections, esp if you have done some maintenance on the system.

Re: Failed To Initialize

Hi,

Myself also faced the same problem and the solution was that take out the harddisk and place it properly once again.
