failure to build new kernel

Using sam, I get the error message ('config: make did an exit(1), exitcode -71', as shown in attachment) when trying to build the new kernel. It makes no difference what parameter I try to change (reduce maxusers by '1', as an example) - always the same. Tried re-booting system, but no difference.

This a newly installed machine HP 9000/800 'A'-class single processor 64-bit HPUX 11.0. There is pleanty of disc space all round, and no permissions problems that I can see. I have successfully changed parameters on this machine using sam 10 days ago.

Re: failure to build new kernel

Hi Martin,

This is the document says:

Problem Description

I am having a problem with Ignite/UX not being able to build a
kernel using /usr/sbin/mk_kernel. The standard output of the
command is shown below:

execvp failed on make
config: make did an exit(1)
The command exited with exitcode -71.

What is causing this problem?

Configuration Info

Operating System - HP-UX
Version - 10.20
Hardware System - HP9000
Series - T520

Solution

Ingite cannot generate a kernel without transition links because
of the lack of a link from /usr/bin/make to /usr/ccs/bin/make.

Work around the problem with these steps:

1. Install the upgrade-tlink fileset from core operating system
CD-ROM.

2. Rerun archive_impact.

3. Recreate the image.
