Re: fbackup error

Hi

In /etc/sam/br/fbackup_config
Try increasing maxretries and attempt another backup.

The file make be in use and fbackup will only make a certain number of attemps to back it up, which is the maxretries entries.

Re: fbackup error

Hi-

Like Paula said, it will only try the file x number of times. We have five tries, and if the file is not active during one of those, it will back it up. If it is, it will skip the file. The only true way around this is to make sure that nothing is running (close all programs, backup at night, make sure no other cron job is active during the backup run). You don't want to extend the number of tries too far, since that could really slow down backup.

exist on my system.

Re: fbackup error

Ashwin-

The file should be there on the system, since it should be installed with SAM. I think you can just take one from someone and use it (I'd give you mine, but my system fried on me over the weekend). You might need to modify the fbackup command if running from a prompt to tell it to use the config file, but I think SAM will look for it automatically. Sorry this is a little vague, but I don't know why the file is missing. Good luck

Mark

ps. Thanks for the cap!

Re: fbackup error

Hi
THe config file is:-
-------------------cut here---------------
blocksperrecord 32
records 32
checkpointfreq 32
readerprocesses 2
maxretries 10
retrylimit 5000000
maxvoluses 100
--------------------cut here---------------

Note maxretries on my system is 10.

Try doing a full search on your system for the file.

Re: fbackup error

Hi Ashwin,

I agree with you this file is just on HP-UX 10.20,not on HP-UX 11.0 .
