fbackup - hpux 10.02

using fbackup on an hp 9000/E35 - daily incremental backups normally take 10 minutes to complete - lately backups have gone into several hours spanning several tapes. The data is the same - the amount of data is the same. Any clues?

Are you sure that the amount of data is the same? If you are spanning several tapes, there are new files that are being picked up. Some things to check would be to make sure that you are still doing an incremental backup and not a full system one. Also, you should be able to look at the contents of the tape to see what the files are and the size. If you are still doing an incremental, then check out where the modified files are coming from (/temp, user directories, etc). Depending on how big the tapes are, you might be looking for a few very large files. One common culpret would be a core file. Good luck.

10.02, jeez upgrade that box if you can to 10.20

I use ignite for all my backup needs. Everything is in VG00 and I just pop in a tape and do a make_tape_recovery. Best FREE product HP has ever come out with besides software distributor.
