fbackup references DLT drive. No DLT drive on system

OS: 11.11
HW: HP9000 T520

I have come across a strange phenomenon.

When using fbackup on a system running a 11.11, I'm getting messages that the server "has a DLT that is write protected".

I can assure you that the system in question has no DLT tape drives. We are using DDS2 drives. (Don't even think the server would support DLTs). Also, I can assure you that there is nothing in my backup script that makes reference to DLT.

Here is an excerpt from the actual output:

Starting daily backup on Tdat2 00:53:25
fbackup(1004): session begins on Wed Sep 11 00:53:25 2002
fbackup(3203): volume 1 has been used 1 time(s)
fbackup(3024): writing volume 1 to the output file /dev/Tdat2
fbackup(3203): volume 1 has been used 4 time(s)
fbackup(3024): writing volume 1 to the output file /dev/Tdat1
fbackup(3055): total file blocks read for backup: 11393403
fbackup(3056): total blocks written to output file /dev/Tdat2: 11395602
fbackup(3003): normal EOT
ccchpc06 has a DLT that is write protected
fbackup(3316): enter '^[yY]' when volume 2 is ready on /dev/Tdat1,
or '^[nN]' to discontinue:
fbackup(3205): WARNING: unable to read a volume header
fbackup(3024): writing volume 2 to the output file /dev/Tdat1
fbackup(3003): normal EOT
ccchpc06 has a DLT that is write protected.

Does latest version of fbackup on 11.11 assume that DLT is the only tape drive technology?

Any clues would be appreciated?

Thanks,
Kirk Reindl

Hi, Kirk!

I really don't believe that fbackup is able to issue these messages. Are you sure that there is no config file used where a chgvol or error script is specified?

What options do you use with fbackup? Is there a -c option? If yes, what are the contents of that config file?

Thanks Dietmar.

You are absolutely correct. I completely forgot about the chgvol config files.

And yes DLT is hardcoded in there.
