In one of my HP system having 10.20 FDDI card is installed. I checked the seed with sam it shows
Autonig-OFF
Speed-10 Million bps
Duplex-Half
when I try to configure it to chnage the speed,the following optins are not changing/not highlighted.
My question are..
1>is this card support for 100FD or not how to check.
2>If supports can I change it online without affecting the network connectivity.
Below is the output of lanscan and the /etc/rc.config.d/hpfddiconf file.
/etc/rc.config.d->more hpfddiconf

SolutionYou can check with ioscan , for the FDDI card model , and can find out the speed details it will support.
you can try :
# ioscan -fnC lan
You can also check the PART details with:

Cheers,
Raj.

Re: FDDI network NIC speed
Also you can check with lanscan and lanadmin for current speed parameters,
# lanscan [ to know the PPA number.]
# lanadmin -x 1 [ Assuming PPA number of the FDDI card is 1 ] It will show the current parameter that is set for this card.
Cheers,
Raj.

Re: FDDI network NIC speed
With it being a ring it's more like half-duplex, but it doesn't really matter as there are no collisions anyways :)
Is there any specific reason why You looked into changing this (but please note that it's not possible)

Re: FDDI network NIC speed
The output of ioscan -fnC lan is...
/->ioscan -fnC lan
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===================================================================
lan 1 10/4/4 fddi CLAIMED INTERFACE HP J2157A - FDDI Interface
/dev/diag/lan1 /dev/lan1
The MTU is set to 4352. It is Max.Transfer Unit. But how much in mbps.
when I run lanadmin -s 1, it comes with no output.
One of you said that we can only change the MTU. How much should I keep to get the speed equivilent to 100mbps/Full duplex.

Re: FDDI network NIC speed
You shouldn't need to change MTU.

Re: FDDI network NIC speed
As In my case the MTU is set to 4352 does it mean that its supporting 100/Full.
But only confusion is through SAM it shows
Speed-10 million bps
duplex-Half.
Could you please clarify more clearly.

Re: FDDI network NIC speed
there is no duplex mode setting for FDDI, I'm quite sure everything is ok the way it is unless You tell me otherwise ;)
