fibre Channel Card

i install a Fibre Channel card a3404a in a K370 unix system hpux-11.0.

but when i check the Fibre Channel with command
/opt/fcms/bin/fcmsutil /dev/fcms0

Local N_Port_ID is = 0x000000
N_Port Node World Wide Name = 0x10000060B0F982E8
N_Port Port World Wide Name = 0x10000060B0F982E8
Topology = UNKNOWN
Speed = 1062500000 (bps)
HPA of card = 0xFFB08000
EIM of card = 0xFFFA000A
Driver state = OFFLINE
Number of EDB's in use = 0
Number of OIB's in use = 0
Number of Active Outbound Exchanges = 0
Number of Active Login Sessions = 0

What i need to do, to put the car ONLINE an topology IN_LOOP.

I´ve configured the drivers fcT1_fcp fcT1_cntl
fcT1 fcp and the Kernel Parameter num_tachyon_adapters is set to 5 but i only have 1 Fchannel card.

the ioscan show me the card
fc 0 10/8 fcT1 CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Fibre Channel Mas
s Storage Adapter
lan 0 10/8.5 fcT1_cntl CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Fibre Channel Mas
s Storage Cntl
/dev/fcms0
fcp 0 10/8.8 fcp CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP Protocol Adapter

i´ve already check the light in Fibre Channel Card and it´s ok. It is receiving and transmit but i still not can see the disk array.

i will appreciate your help.
Thanks so

Re: fibre Channel Card

I believe you need to do:

fcmsutil fcms0 reset

It may need a kick in the pants to get going...

Caution: this is a destructive command so be sure you dont have anything connected along this FC

Re: fibre Channel Card

You need to assign disk to the card by its world wide name. That should bring it online.

Re: fibre Channel Card

Hi,

I think you need to configure the interface on the fc switch in loop mode.

Re: fibre Channel Card

Sorry forgot one more thing. Is this direct connected or thru a switch...

IF direct connected this should fix it. IF it is thru a switch, I would telnet to the switch and make sure the port it is plugged into is ON or you may try another port.

Re: fibre Channel Card

when i reset de FC the Driver STATE is DEAD.

How can i configure the fc interface to IN_LOOP topology and the Worl Wide Name?

The FC is direct connected to the Disk Array XP256.

Thanks?

Re: fibre Channel Card

3404 is an HSC card that only supports 1 Gb FC-AL or direct connect . I see you have all the drivees there .

I also see you have a PCI tachyon TL/TS driver installed . Since this one only supports switched fabric , I would start by removing this driver and see ehat happens .
May be the two drivers are conflicting .
