fibre channel cards UNCLAIMED ?

Hello HP,
I do not see my "fcd" driver in my kernel
( viewed from SAM ) please advise ? I think this is why my Fibre cards are not claimed.

if you run swlist, you should see a line similar to this:

FDDI-00 B.11.11.02 PCI FDDI;Supptd HW=A3739A/A3739B;SW=J3626AA

if not, you don't have the patch with the fibre driver loaded

fcmsutil /dev/
you will find the driver version.

dumb thought. what is the init level? i got caught on this before where i did not want to bring the system all the way up before I knew the cards were claimed. fc starts at init 2

What model of cards do you have (e.g. A6826A). Instead of the FDDI driver you need to make sure you have the fibre channel driver (I think its called FibrChan or something like that, but I don't have a machine in front of me right now to verify).

Hi Jerry,

Are you running WBEM on this server?
If so you may need the FCPROVIDER01 SW.

OK - the proper bundle is FibrChanl-01
This should be on one of the CDs in the release set. As of Dec 2004 current ver is B.11.11.04
But there may be a newer one out by now.

I know it's not the same board, but these newer FC HBAs definitely need FibrChanl-01 & especially the newer versions of it.

See if you already have it loaded - use

swlist -l product | grep Fib

If you see:

FC-FCD B.11.11.02 PCI-X FibreChannel;Supptd HW=A6826A,A6685A,A5158A,A6795A

Or something near, then you already have it & you just may need the newer patches.

Yep - you're going to need FibrChanl-01 alright. Make sure you find the most current available. Think you could download it from software.hp.com if you don't have it locally.
If the cards were present at OS load time it would have been loaded then.

The system was loaded from an ignite tape
from an rp7410 system. I will search the software.hp.com site
