file system corrupted after power failure

hello,

Our file system is corrupted after power failure. I did a normal fsck, but it told me bad super block and magic number wrong. Then I tried the fsck -b with alternative superblock. However, it takes very long time due to the size of the harddisk.

The customer is not happy with the long hours and he wants us to stop it. So we stopped the fsck checking, did a newfs and try to restore from the tape.

however, after the restoration, the oracle data file got the corrupte block errors.

So may I know what is the best solution for my case? I need a sure work solution since the oracle datafiles takes very long time to restore.

Please help. Thanks

Re: file system corrupted after power failure

Hi Kenken,
The problem might be because of the large files support on the filesystem

may be you can use newfs -F vxfs -o large files to create filesystem.

Please let me know which is the Operrating system and is the the Lovical Volume is a part of local disk or SAN environmnet.
