File timestamps to the milliseconds
Hi.
Is it possible to increase file timestamp resolution to the milliseconds?
I suppose I first neeed to change the localtime someway.
As far as timestamp display is concerned, I know this is not possible with ls, with perl is possible to show a timestamp to the seconds.
I believe that timestamp is stored in the number of seconds...
Thanks

Re: File timestamps to the milliseconds
Hi,
Sorrie, it is in seconds.
File timestamps are stored in the inode.
check man inode for info. To alter it you can check man utime, but that is in seconds.

Re: File timestamps to the milliseconds
As Gideon said the timestamp is stored in the inode and the format is time_t which is seconds.
So bottom line is that it is imposible.
Regards,
Trond
