Filesystem Block size

Hi Experts,

Can anyone pl explain me how to find out block size for a filesystem in hpux11.11. I know when we give "newfs" first time then we come to know or rather we can specify the block size with "-b" option and default is of "4kb". How to find out this info when system is online.

Re: Filesystem Block size

Remember, the 8k shown by f_bsize for vxfs filesystems is not the true blocksize. The real blocksize for a vxfs filesystem is 1k (fs_size from fstyp). HFS is 512bytes.

Re: Filesystem Block size

The fundamental VxFS blocksize is shown as f_frsize in fstyp(1M) and defaults to 1K.

BTW, the block size for VxFS is not as important as for HFS, since large IO's are able to span lots of blocks... we are talking about the VxFS extents here. A really useful and short explanation can be found in doc:
