Re: Finding your postings and unassigned responses

Hi all,

Just finished my exams. Now back to the forums. :-)

Apologise for the lack of updates. Have been facing network connectivity issues over the weekends, which had prevented me from getting a clean set of updates.

Will try to get a clean set of updates this coming weekend.

Procura, I believe Dan already answered your query previously.

Hope this helps. Regards.

Hi Steven

Great contribution

I now see why you deserve you pharaon HAT !!!

...
Final update: 16 Mar 2002
Stopped because HP is finally implementing their own postings search engine :-)
...

Too bad : I hope that HP could use it to make a sort of Sorting on "BAD" points givers

Regard

Fred
Why should I bother ? The problem will be gone with the next release ...

Re: Finding your postings and unassigned responses

Frederic, at least you show that you are able to use the search features of the ITRC :)

I don't think it's a good thing to bring up all the threads about asigning points to the top of the list, clearly showing that you are hunting for points, and pushing interesting questions down. One thread would have been quite sufficient. For you it's easy to tell others since you never posted a question, and thus did never have to asign points.

And remember, Paula has become our Princess because of her good answers and because of her invaluable sense of humour, not because she wants points in every thread she knows the answer to. Then she might have been wearing the salad long ago ...

Re: Finding your postings and unassigned responses

Procura

It's not bad to hunt points ...

It gives me a goal ...

OK, I haven't post any questions : Is that a problem ?
But As far as I know, point giving is just a matter of a few second work, right ?

If I could answer in *all* category ( and getting point in all of them ) : would that be bad ?

Event if I don't always give good answers ( noone can, I guess ) so far I've been able to help plenty people. That makes me feel good.

And I like to be rewarded from time to time

The hat system is very good ... and is based on point giving

But you can notice that I also answers post where the author has never assigned any points ...

It doesn't stop me from answering ...

Cheers up

Fred

Re: Finding your postings and unassigned responses

Fred, no problem with that. I was just a bit annoyed (a bit is not much) that you popped all threads about this subject to the top. I mean, your message would have been clear enough if you only answered your statement in Paula's thread, whereas you now posted almost the same answer in three threads.

If the points are a motivation for you to keep giving good answers, by all means keep doing so. My main motivations are

1. Learn from others
2. Learn from myself (some problems tease me to investigation and strech my limits)
3. Share my knowledge with others

IMHO the hats are just fun, and I care less and less the further I get.

Re: Finding your postings and unassigned responses

I have a problem with your engine!
....Oh It's a SMALL problem ;)

As a jerky guy asking questions, I like to write in a FOLLOW up to the questions I post. I figure it's good to let people know if the suggestion worked or not.

Unfortunately this means I don't assign points to myself. (duh).

As a result I have a point percentage of 77%. I guess post a lot to my own questions.

But that's my only problem.

Re: Finding your postings and unassigned responses

Steve,

Your percentage of assigning points does NOT take into account when you post to your own thread.

If you have assigned points to 77 out of 100, then there are 23 responses (other than your own) to your question/questions, that you haven't assigned points to.

Re: Finding your postings and unassigned responses

Hi Steve Post,

System does not count responses to your own questions. So if you want 100% you'll need to dig a little further - they're out there somewhere.

Cheers,
Jeff

Re: Finding your postings and unassigned responses

Yeah. I talk a lot to myself.
Still....I already know that according to hp, I have not assigned points to ONE response.
I'm waiting to see if the comment works out tonight.
I think it's a great tool. It will just make ME look mad. That's ok.

Ok. I'll go through the responses. I don't mind reviewing my old dilemmas at all.

Re: Finding your postings and unassigned responses

Confirmed. I every non-reponse was the author, uh ME. I talk alot. 1/2 of the stuff is reponding to responses. The other 1/2 is a follow up message.
...yeah. I talk a lot.

Re: Finding your postings and unassigned responses

Dear all,

To avoid any potential misinterpretation in future, I am disabling the postings search engine webpage (which stopped production since 16 Mar 2002 as had been indicated on the webpage itself) with effect from now.

With the official closing of the search engine, this thread is no longer relevant and shall now be officially closed.

Thank you for your support. Regards.
