Firewall Question

I need to set up a firewall between the cisco router which is connecting to the
external party and my company's corporate LAN. However I don't have much
knowledge on the firewall. Can anybody give me some suggestion on it? We have
some obsolete E-Class HP server, can I source some firewall software and just
installed it into this server? Moreover do I need at least 2 LAN interface for
such firewall platform?

Thanks

Re: Firewall Question

There are a couple of Firewall products that run on HP-UX.
I believe two of these are Checkpoint and Eagle Raptor.
The E class could do this and yes I believe that you would need 2 NIC's to
ensure separation, but believe the question might be answered better by posting
it into the Networking and OpenView Forum.
For further information on the friewall products, it might be worthwhile
contacting your local HP Sales Office.

Try www.checkpoint.com - this site should answer most of your queries.

Re: Firewall Question

Hi,

All firewalls that I know of require a minimum of two NICS. You need to
physically seperate the inside and outside. The firewalls with the largest
implementation that I know of are Checkpoint Firewall-1 and raptor.

If you are primarily an HP shop ask the HP rep to suggest something. I believe
that HP's primary lead if the raptor product as it is part of their E-services
solution.

When you are shopping around ensure that you don't buy a proxy or simple port
redirector.
