fopen reaches file limit size?

Hi - My c program opens a file using the fopen function on a Hpux 11.i OS. But the program responded: "Value too large to be stored in data type." When I used "more", "cat", they all responded the same message. I think this has something to do with 64-bit compiler options. But please point me in the right direction so we don't have to end up splitting the file from its source.

Thanks!!
