Re: Forgotten,Lost, Password
if it's the root password, you will need to boot into single user mode !
follow the prompts and interupt, type 'y' to interact then hpux -is
when you hit the prompt
#mount -a
#/usr/lbin/tsconvert -r
this will bring you into " break me shake me" mode ! from then you can reset the root password with
passwd
otherwise you need to go to the protected entry in
/tcb/auth/files/r ( i think! , had a few beers at this point !)
vi the root entry and remove the password field
For a normal user you do be the same thing

Re: Forgotten,Lost, Password
The beers didn't slow you down a bit.
Those instructions apply to trusted system and the root password is in a file called root.
Change this:
:u_pwd=hZUjWYS59I9OIvlS8JkUoW2k:\
to
:u_pwd=:\
Save it.
You are done.
No root password.
Lets be careful out there.

Re: Forgotten,Lost, Password
You said the answers were to technical, please try the following:
- Power on the machine
- When it says "press any key to interrupt the boot", press any key.
- Type "bo pri",
- type 'y' to interact
- now type "hpux -is"
- Wait for it to boot.
- Type "mount -a"
- type "passwd". This will prompt you for the new password. Enter it twice and done!
- Type "init 3"
That should do it!
Good luck,
Robert

Re: Forgotten,Lost, Password
My first thought on your comments of "technical" was to advise you to contact your SA. Though that is basicly still true, we need input from you as to the circumstances and outputs from your boot problems.
Hang in there. The forums will get you up and running.
Regards,
dl
